For those who constantly master something, or just like to think about something, a marker board is simply an irreplaceable thing. On it, you can quickly sketch your idea, a homemade scheme, and then think about it. Also on such a board it is convenient to work as a team, everyone will finish drawing up their ideas, thoughts, and so a masterpiece will be born. In addition, with the help of such a board it is convenient to show the audience what exactly you want to do, demonstrate your ideas and so on. According to the author, it took only one day to assemble the board, taking into account the search and purchase of the necessary materials. Such a board is hung on the wall.

Materials and tools for homemade:
- a sheet of hardboard,
- a sheet of baguette glass 400x600 mm and a thickness of 2 mm,
- boards with a cross section of 30x5 mm,
- screws
- aerosol paint of white color,
- bamboo skewers,
- white paper.

DIY tools: scotch tape, drill, jigsaw, glue and screwdrivers.

We collect a marker board:

Step one. Marker glass preparation
First you need to unpack the baguette glass, it was purchased by the author in a baguette workshop for only 250 rubles. Before painting, the glass must be degreased, for this you will need alcohol or any solvent. When processing, you must be careful, because the edges of the glass can be quite sharp and can be easily cut.

Step Two Glass painting
Since the glass was painted directly on the balcony, the author assembled a small paint shop from newspapers for these purposes. In the photo you can see the paint that was used for these purposes. You will also need a respirator, since an ordinary dressing does not save even in three layers.

In total, you need to apply 5-6 thin layers, between them you need to pause for 20-30 minutes, so that the paint has time to dry. You need to paint carefully, since even a slight smudge will spoil all the work.

As a result, we had to do wet cleaning on the balcony, as the paint flew in all directions.

Step Three Sharp edges
To remove sharp edges, a bevel was removed using a diamond file. When working with painted glass, you do not need to touch the painted surface, since the paint does not hold well and the coating can be damaged.

Step Four Making a frame for a breadboard
The contour of the glass must be circled on a sheet of hardboard.

The fastening system is designed in such a way that the glass is pressed against the hardboard from above and below by wooden planks. The bar overlaps the glass by 5 mm.

Next, you need to step back from a long line on a hardboard of 25 mm and draw another parallel line. In the photo you can see how it should look.

Planks need to be cut, focusing on the long side of the glass, i.e. 600 mm.

On the plank, you need to make a longitudinal recess 5X2 mm in size so that the plank fits snugly on the hardboard, and thereby pressed the glass well. This is done with a knife, you can also use a planer.
All you need to do two of these bars.

Well, then you need to cut the frame from a piece of hardboard.

Since the paint slightly transmits light, the inside of the frame was glued with white paper, while the marker board became more white. Next, the glass and planks are put into place.

The strips are fixed using self-tapping screws, they are screwed in from the back to press the hardboard with a hat. If it so happened that the screws were long, the excess pieces can be bitten off with pliers. Planks can be painted white for the sake of style.

Making shelves for felt-tip pens
The marker shelf will be removable; it is attached to pins made of bamboo sticks. The diameter is 2.5 mm.

In the frame, you need to drill a hole of the same diameter and then slightly expand it, swinging the drill in different directions.

In the shelf, you also need to outline two holes, they must correspond to those that were drilled in the frame. Well, then drill. Subsequently, pins are hammered into the holes; it is advisable to put them on PVA glue.

How to hang a board
The board will be hung on the wall using screws. In the frame, you need to drill holes 1 mm larger than the diameter of the head of the screws used. Well, then you need to drill holes in the wall, you can see the red nozzle on the drill, it picks up dust, it costs only 35 rubles.

That's all, the board is ready, you can try to draw. Markers are used special designed for marker boards. The inscriptions are erased very simply, you can erase them with your finger or with the hard part of the sponge used to wash dishes. Since the surface is glass, the inscriptions are erased immediately, one movement is enough, and the timing is not important.

If necessary, the board can be removed and written on the table horizontally. Everything looks quite stylish and expensive, given the low cost of the materials used. The only drawback is that the glass glares at a certain angle, but you can adapt to this.

Large white boards on which you can write with markers are very convenient for visual presentation of information, but they usually cost a lot. You can make such a board yourself at a much lower cost - the specific cost will depend on the chosen method of manufacture and the necessary materials.

Board made of polymer material

Decide on the size of the board. It can be of any size at your discretion. However, the sheets of material that you will use are usually in standard sizes, such as 120 x 240 cm, so you may need several such sheets (if you want to make a large board).

In the store of goods for construction and repair, buy melamine - a sheet of hardboard with a durable plastic coating on one side. Sometimes a material can have a tile-like texture. In some cases, this is convenient (if you need to draw tables and squares on the board), but usually this pattern only interferes. Choose a smooth surface, as labels are better visible on it and easier to wash off.

If you want a transparent board, use Lexan plexiglass or polycarbonate. These are thinner polymeric materials that can also be found in the repair shop. Lexan is better to use, as it is about 2 times thinner than plexiglass and more resistant to damage. It costs a little more than plexiglass, but weighs less, does not crumble during drilling and has a more beautiful glossy finish.

Reinforce the board if necessary. Please note that the board is very thin - only 5-6 mm thick, so it can bend. This will not be a problem if you stick the board directly to the wall. However, if you want to move the board, stick it to the backing sheet (for stability).

  • For the backing sheet, choose any material: it can be a cork plate, plywood or even an additional sheet of material from which you make a board.

If you want the board to be smaller than 120 x 240 cm, crop it. If you do not have the necessary tools for this, this can be done in a wood processing workshop or in a building materials store. If you want to cut the board yourself, do it slowly, otherwise you may damage the material.

  • If you want to stick the board onto the backing sheet, trim it as well.

Take glue, nails, hooks or other materials with which you plan to hang the board. It doesn’t matter what you use to fix the board to the wall - choose as you wish. By gluing, screwing or nailing the board, you will not be able to move it. If you want to be able to remove and carry the board, hang it on hooks.

  • Keep in mind that this type of board is best glued to a flat wall. If there are a lot of bumps and bulges on the wall, then there will probably be a few millimeters between it and the board, which will make the board unstable when you write on it.
  • You might want to make a frame for the board or attach a shelf for markers to it.

Use the board as you wish. Congratulations! Your white marker is ready. If you intend to use the board for the same task, you can divide it into the appropriate sections. Say, if it is for a schedule, divide it into days and / or weeks.

  • If you want to divide the surface of the board into sections, buy car decorative strips in the auto parts or car goods store. Black bars come in two sizes, 6 mm and 3 mm wide, and are great for clear marking. There are also strips of other sizes, colors and even with patterns.

Do-it-yourself school magnetic blackboard. How to make a white (dry-erase marker) board

The whiteboard in the office is a convenient and irreplaceable thing. You can leave messages, you can write plans for the day, well, I think you know better than mine why it is needed.

And I wanted to have such a board at home. Having looked at the prices in Komus, there was no decrease in desire, but I didn’t want to buy a “real” board :)
Searches on the Internet led to various “do-it-yourselfers”, which were of two types - paint the glass or stick the film on wood / cardboard (but we won’t do it).
They offered to buy glass in a glass workshop for 500 rubles. But he still needs a frame - aesthetics, all things. And this is + 500. Plus shipping (I do not have a car) and travel time. Also a spray of paint, find a place where to paint, wash, degrease. Inexpensive and you can meet one evening, but not in life hacking.
Approximately the same situation with a board made of cardboard and film. The office neighbors sell the film, so there was no need to search for it for a long time, the price is a box of beer, i.e. 500 p. The board could be found on the street, bought, again the frame, etc.
Therefore, I decided to find my option - simpler and easier.

Option one. Transparent board

First you need to determine the size of the future product. Depending on the destination, the sizes can be any. A magnetic marker board 90x120 centimeters is suitable for teaching students, drawing small schemes. Small children can make smaller boards. For placement in a large office and lectures, the dimensions of the product should be from 150 cm on the narrow side.

The building materials store sells melamine of various sizes. This material has a strong plastic coating on one side, which will ensure the durability of the product. It is better to choose sheets with a smooth surface, as they are easier to wipe, and the labels will be better read.

If you want to make a transparent whiteboard, you can buy Plexiglass or Lexan. The latter option is thinner and more resistant to damage, weighs less, does not crumble and has a beautiful glossy finish.

If you decide to make a magnetic whiteboard with your own hands, note that the material is very thin - only 6 mm thick. You can hang the board on the wall, but if you plan to move it, you need to glue the backing sheet. To use magnets, it is best to select a sheet of steel and add plywood or cork.

Please note that such a board should be placed on a flat wall. If the surface is not smooth enough, then the board will not be stable, writing on it will not be very convenient. Also for convenience, you can attach a shelf for markers and rags to the finished product.

Now the stores sell glider boards, divided by the days of the week. For marking, automotive self-adhesive strips of 3-6 mm wide are ideal. If you make a magnetic whiteboard with your own hands, you can decorate it at your own request and depending on the purpose of use.

Option Two. Whiteboard magnetic marker

To make a white board, you can take any smooth material and cover it with several layers of paint and varnish. But a steel sheet is ideal. It is cheaper, heavier and magnets are well attached to it.

Cover the sheet with white paint in several layers. It is used white, because on this surface all the colors of the markers will be clearly visible. Each layer should dry well.

After all layers of paint have dried, cover the sheet with a thin layer of transparent glossy varnish. One of the best coatings will again be melamine, which is not only solid, but also liquid.

Now you can frame the product, make shelves and hang the board. The shelf is made of a thin strip of metal and is attached to the bottom edge of the product. Framing will hide the uneven edges of the board.

  1. Markers need to be washed with a dry sponge or soft rag. It is better to use special markers designed for whiteboards. Light stripes may remain on the surface after erasing the labels. They are removed with alcohol. To avoid streaking, melamine can be coated with wax, which is used to polish machines.
  2. It is better to cut the material with a saw for laminated materials or plywood.
  3. To facilitate sawing, you can draw a line with a ruler and knife. Then, during the cutting process, the material will not break. To prevent crumbling and grinding, sticky tape can be glued to the cut line.

By making a magnetic whiteboard with your own hands, you can save a lot. Such a product will fully meet your wishes and requirements.

Good day dear reader.

Today I would like to talk about how in a few hours, having only 300 rubles in my pocket, and behind my back a bag of enthusiasm to make myself such a useful thing as a whiteboard.

A tackle of the picture is about three megabytes.

So let's get started

What we need:

  • Glass from an old window
  • Two cans of white spray paint - 110 rubles piece
  • Coarse sandpaper
  • Fine grain sandpaper
  • Bucket of water + detergent
  • Acetone or solvent - 60 rubles / can
  • Rags
  • Iron corners for furniture - 10 rubles piece
  • Wooden blocks
  • Screws (large with dowels for mounting on the wall, and small later it will be clear why) - 2 rubles = piece
  • 2-4 hours time

(Not everything is here, but the basic set is shown).

Step Four: Painting

(First layer)

(Third layer)

Step Six: Prepare Fasteners

We take a piece of wood and cut out several bars from it, so that when you screw the block to the corner, a gap of about half a centimeter remains between the corner and the bar.
In this gap it is worth putting some rubber gasket in order to protect the glass from direct contact with solid parts.
Unfortunately, I did not shoot the process of manufacturing fasteners, but when you see the finished structure you will understand everything.

We paint it in the tone of the board, and go to the wall on which we are going to hang our board.

(Side view with gasket)

(View from above)

Step Seven: Installation

The first step is to attach the lower corners, so that later you can measure where to screw the upper ones. I did it this way: I screwed the two lower fasteners, put the glass on them, and placed the upper fasteners, noting their location with a pencil. Next, it’s small.

Secondly, it is worth noting that inserting a sufficiently large and fragile glass into such a structure from the side is quite problematic, therefore, at the upper fasteners, it is worth unscrewing the wooden bars, insert the glass, and then return the bars back.

Thirdly, I want to note that the glass recedes from the wall by about half a centimeter, which, when large enough, makes the structure extremely fragile. I solved this problem by gluing on the back side of the glass about ten half-centimeter rubber gaskets. They do not allow glass to bend in the center when we intensively wash our soaps from it.

Step Eight: Rejoice

Game 1: We blindfold one of the participants, put it in front of the board, hand in a marker, whisper so that no one hears what needs to be drawn and in front, The others guess.

Game 2: Draw on the board, for example: a donkey, a piggy and a man’s sea, a blindfold player needs to draw a donkey’s tail, a piglet - a heel (nose), a person, I won’t specify what we painted :), but you can nose.

Finally

Of the changes, I would make a little more elegant fasteners, so these stick out very much.

Many thanks to the users.

Step Five: Verification

In this gap it is worth putting some rubber gasket in order to protect the glass from direct contact with solid parts.

Painted board

Buy a sheet of smooth material in suitable sizes. In fact, many white boards are made not as described in the first method, but from any hard and smooth material that is coated with several layers of paint. In this case, buy a smooth, thin, durable, rectangular sheet of any material. Do not select a rough or textured sheet, as it will be difficult to write on it.

  • Steel or aluminum sheets are ideal for this - they are smooth, durable and thin. Choose yourself: an aluminum sheet is lighter, but more expensive, steel is heavier, but cheaper, and you can use magnets on a steel sheet.

Coat the purchased sheet with white paint. Although it is not necessary to paint the sheet with white paint, but the vast majority of such boards are white, since you can write with markers of any color on such a board. Coat the purchased sheet with white paint, let it dry, and then coat the sheet again with white paint.

After the white paint has dried, apply a thin layer of transparent varnish on it and let it dry. After that, cover the board with another coat of varnish.

  • There are many suitable paints and varnishes. One of the best is melamine, previously mentioned as a solid material for creating boards. But melamine is also available in liquid form and can be used for finishing the surface of the board (instead of varnish).

Now you can frame the board or attach a shelf for markers to it. Framing (usually metal or plastic) will hide the uneven edges of the board and give it a beautiful appearance. The marker shelf is a thin strip of metal that attaches to the bottom edge of the board and is used to store markers and other related items. Attach a frame or shelf to the board before you attach it to the wall.

Attach the board to the wall as described in the previous section. To attach the board without being able to move it, use glue, nails or screws (in case of using nails or screws, make holes in the board). If you want to move the board, hang it on hooks. If necessary, use a backing sheet so that the board does not move away from the wall.

Who says chalk can only be written on black?

-
Decorate such a zone for drawing in the nursery, painting the facades of children's furniture with paint, the top of a children's table, or just a section on the wall. All that a child needs is a box of colored crayons, and a clean rag that is easy to wash painted!

Are you on the parent committee in kindergarten or attending additionally developing children's centers? Offer to design a creative zone in the game room! This is easy to do on your own, an example we showed in the video. A can of paint, a paint roller and masking tape - almost everything you need. Water paint, does not have a pungent odor, dries very quickly (apply the first coat, and after 6 hours - the second coat).
The paint is economical, in 2 layers it is enough for about 4-5 sq.m.
Along with drawing on paper, it is useful for the child to allow drawing with a stick in the sand, on the ground, with chalk on slate boards, on asphalt. All this trains the hand and eye of children, promotes the development of visual control over movement, strengthens drawing movements, makes them more confident, bold.

Such drawing also develops the imagination of the child: over and over he experiences what he has seen, tries to translate it into a drawing, and each time it turns out differently.

Therefore, when there is an opportunity, it is necessary to encourage such an activity, to acquire
a box of colored crayons, take for a walk a slightly pointed, not very thick stick at least 20 cm long.

But in the fall, in the winter there is no longer any chance to draw with chalk on the asphalt. In addition, everyone is familiar with the situation when a child painted freshly glued wallpaper or new furniture at home :)) What to do, creative energy is looking for a way out!

Do your children want to paint on the walls? There is a simple and effective way to resolve this issue. With the help (new name - "LIITU") the wall will cease to be a forbidden place for creativity. The paint forms a surface to which the chalk adheres easily and with which it is just as easily erased.

Using paints can even be done. magnetic surface! MAGNETIC paint (Tikkurila), applied 2-3 layers, creates an amazing effect - magnets stick to it. On top of the MAGNETIC paint you can apply 2 layers of LIITU slate paint - then you will get a 2-in-1 surface for creativity. On it you can draw with chalk, and attach magnets to textbooks or an exhibition of drawings and applications.

LIITU consumption - 1l per 8-10sq.m / l
Drying - 1 hour on tack, the next layer can be applied after 6 hours. The surface is ready for use, ready in about a week.

MAGNETIC consumption - a 0.5l jar of approximately 0.5sq.m. in 3 layers (1 liter per 1.5 sq. m. in 1 layer, but to obtain a magnetic effect you need 2-3 layers).

The idea is the countertop of a children's table. You can draw on it with chalk!

To buy paint for blackboards, Tikkuril slate paint, Tikkuril magnetic paint in St. Petersburg.

Do not get until you read it!

Most of us, when we see a chalkboard on a wall or a wall painted with magnetic paint in the interior, wondered: “Maybe I can do it!” Well, here is the ins and outs about what works and what doesn't, and how to get the effect you really want.

A chalk board on a wall can easily create an image of a message board or artificial display in almost any room. True, for this you do not need to use a special chalk paint, which is presented in a limited palette of colors and is quite expensive.

Here's the secret formula for creating a chalk board: in each jar of plain paint (any color), add 2 tablespoons of grout for ceramic tiles and mix thoroughly to break the lumps. Apply paint with a roller, sponge or brush, use several layers to evenly coat. After it dries, it is necessary to remove crumbs of sand from the surface with sandpaper No. 150 and wipe off the dust. Now your chalk board is ready - put a piece of chalk on the inscription, then erase the chalk with a slightly damp sponge.

Magnetic paint can turn a wall into a convenient place for announcements, drawings, photographs, or an area that requires a constant change of exposure. In a word, you can magnetize everything that you want to display with magnets without glue and buttons onto a magnetic board, and if necessary, quickly move or completely replace everything. True magnetic paint does not replace the magnetic board, because adhesion of magnets to magnetic paint is weaker. A couple of years ago, one of my friends wanted to create a magnetic wall in the interior for his daughter, where she could show her drawings and hang important reminders. After 3 layers of magnetic paint were applied to the wall, the area to be painted did not become sufficient to hold most of the magnets. Some of the magnets were so weakly magnetized against the wall that the magnets could not even hold a sheet of paper!

Everyone has seen tiny superpowered neodymium magnets! They are strongly magnetized, but their use is to some extent dangerous for children, as such magnets are easy to swallow. Watch an episode of the series Anatomy of the Passion (Grays ’Anatomy) about a child who swallowed several magnets, they began to magnetize to each other, thereby tearing the walls of the abdominal organs. Such cases happen in real life. Despite this, my friend decided to use these very light and strong magnets for attaching sheets of paper to the wall, with the creativity of his daughter.

Here's how they arranged the Christmas tree-shaped words with magnets last year:

So, forget about magnetic paint. If you want a magnetic space that actually works, go to the store and buy a large sheet of galvanized steel (make sure this sheet is magnetized before purchase). You can even use a metal baseboard or strip of steel. After that, you can paint in any color you like - the paint will not affect magnetism. Attach the fasteners and mount the steel on the wall.

Now you know all the pros and cons, the whole truth about the chalkboard and magnetic paint. If you did something similar in your room, relying on this article, please write about it to us. We will mark the best works with magnetic prizes,)

Own option

Up. I decided to fix the marker and the “eraser” using powerful magnets, erase through the glass, the marker sticks to the corner.

For those who constantly master something, or just like to think about something, a marker board is simply an irreplaceable thing. - aerosol paint of white color,
- bamboo skewers,
- white paper.

DIY tools: scotch tape, drill, jigsaw, glue and screwdrivers.

We collect a marker board:

Step one. Marker glass preparation

No matter how I tried to write only about travels, but somehow the site turns into a blog about how to be a boring mom) Traveling with a child, playing, working and just a jack of all trades. It’s just that I’ve been doing a curvature test lately all the time, taking up the arrangement of a house, and in particular a baby’s room. After a trip to India, my second wind opened and heaps of ideas for a nursery rained down. One of these ideas is a magnetic board for children, or rather one child and his young guests, on which you can sculpt and draw magnets with chalk.

I made it to my son with my own hands in December. And the time has come to tell how I succeeded,) I dreamed about a large magnetic board for a child for a long time. We had all kinds of magnetic designers that could be perfectly used on such a board. The little ones didn’t suit me at all, I couldn’t part on a small square, boredom: /

When I started monitoring this topic, I realized that large boards are not cheap at all. Plus, if it’s a tremendous blackboard, then the school appears immediately on which you can write with chalk =) Moreover, wooden and black are classic, and so emotional! And not these frightening greens that are everywhere now. There is no soul in them, no. Yes, and in magnetic boards it is not there, it looks cold and does not attract you at all, and with a child it is very important that it is cozy and attracts attention. In general, you understand my train of thought)

And maybe all of this would have remained just a wish, if I had not accidentally found out that in nature today there are special paints for blackboards. And just for sale for home use. No, of course, I have repeatedly seen completely black walls on which you can draw with chalk, but somehow I did not think what they were covered with. And here, it’s necessary, paint exclusively for blackboards !!

That is, he simply moved the brush and the piece of wood suddenly became "metal"! Well, aren't miracles ?? For me personally, miracles :) And even more so for my child, because now you can’t tear it from this wonderful board,) Do you want this for your children as well? Then welcome to kat for a detailed recipe,)

Let's start with the estimate. That is, from what materials I needed to create this board, how much their consumption amounted to, and how much it all cost. I think the issue of price worries many.

The main materials:
1. Tikkuril paint for blackboards (color black) - 1069 rubles
2. Magnetic soil Marabu - 986 rubles for two cans of 225 ml. This price, together with delivery by Russian post, in Perm, I did not find this soil. Perhaps in your city you will find this soil, then the shipping cost is taken away. The average price for a jar of soil is 350 rubles. I needed two (depending on the size of the board).
3. Plywood (standard sheet: thickness - 6 mm, length of the sides - 1525x1525 mm) - 408 rubles + 30 rubles for cutting plywood, because I needed a size of 1200x800 mm. That is, the price depends on the size of the plywood you take, as well as its thickness, it seemed to me that 4 mm would be too thin.
→ Intermediate cost: 2493 rubles *

* In principle, this set can already be dispensed with. All of the following is purely my initiative and idea. The functionality of the board is fully operational and in the presence of three points above.

Additional materials:
4. Wooden slats for the frame (3 mx 2 pcs) - 60 rubles
5. White paint to cover the frame - 406 rubles. I took Tikkuril Pesto 10, but it makes no sense to take a whole can of paint in 1 liter, I just needed it for other purposes, and of course I spent a little bit on painting frames. You can take any white or whatever color you want, depending on your room design. Small jars cost around 100 rubles.
→ Intermediate cost: 2493 + 466 = 2959 rubles **

** Around the board I decided to make a frame so that it would have a more complete look. In addition, as it turned out later, thanks to the frame, the chalk powder does not spill onto the floor under the blackboard, but remains on it, from where it can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth. I chose white color because in the child’s room all the furniture is white, and also with the orange walls the white frame is much more beneficial in my opinion should look.

Final elements:
6. Railing Bugel - 129 rubles. I took 100 cm, but if the board would be smaller, you can choose a railing 55 cm long, and it will be cheaper already.
7. Hinged pockets Kusiner for storing magnets - 199 rubles .. It is very convenient that nothing is lying around the house, because magnets more and more and they are quite small.
8. Bugel containers for crayons and sponges - 78 rubles. The price is for 2 pieces, in white we have multicolored crayons, and in black a rag for washing boards.
9. Hooks Bugel - 49 rub for 10 pcs. I’ll add it to the expense, because I bought specially hung pockets for railing. But in the end, they turned out to be uncomfortable for us, because because of the hooks, Kusiner's pockets reached almost to the floor (the board hangs at the child's height, i.e. not high), it looked very ugly. And also pockets constantly fell, t. To. child hooks did not give rest :)) Because I removed them and simply tied the pockets on the strings. Now they are securely fixed, do not ride on the bar here and there, I like everything)

→ Final cost: 2493 + 466 + 455 = 3414 rubles ***

*** It is worth considering the size of the board. I needed a big enough one - 1.2 mx 0.8 m. Well, plus not everyone needs all these bells and whistles from pockets and frames) Therefore, the cost can vary greatly depending on your requests. Well, do not forget that I took the prices to the maximum, although the consumption of materials is much lower, for example, 1 liter of black paint is not needed at all. That is, you can team up with friends who also want their children to such a board, and divide the cost of materials in half.

Manufacturing process

1. We prepare the basic materials. Namely, magnetic primer and paint for blackboards.

I chose black because I wanted a classic board, but Tikkurila also has a standard green. That is, you can make the board green.

2. Plywood is also already waiting for the transformation))

As I indicated above, I took a standard-sized sheet and ordered a cut so that I wouldn’t cut it all myself. Because they brought me the right size plywood home. I chose the thickness of plywood 6 mm, because 4 mm is too thin, it bends and writing on such a child will be uncomfortable, and 8 mm is already thick and it is more difficult to fix it to the wall, because it is already noticeably heavier.

3. I processed all the edges of the plywood with sandpaper. And then I started to cover with magnetic soil.

The plywood itself was of high quality, there were no noticeable splintering and roughness on it, so I did not have to sandpaper the entire surface. But it is recommended to wipe with a rag in order to remove dust and dirt from the surface. If you wipe with a damp cloth, then, of course, it will be necessary to wait until the surface has dried before applying the primer.

4. Magnetic soil is very thick. It consists of small particles of metal, a kind of “iron” powder, so crushed almost to dust that it is not visible to the eye. It is very surprising to take such a small jar and suddenly discover that its weight exceeds a pound. Due to the metal in the soil, the mass is greatly increased. It is applied in a thick layer, resembles cement in both color and consistency. I covered it with an ordinary paint brush, smeared the layer horizontally, and the next one already vertically, so the surface overlaps better. The soil dries quickly, so the jar should not be left open for a long time.

Magnetic soil has the peculiarity that the more layers you apply it, the stronger the magnetic properties. In principle, this is easily explained, because in this case there are much more metal particles on the surface. Therefore, I decided to completely spend both jars that I have. As a result, two cans of 225 ml each were enough for me to cover with three layers of plywood 1.2x0.8 m in size.
I applied each subsequent layer when the previous one has dried out well. As I said, it dries very quickly, but still I gave the first layer time to dry thoroughly for a day. The next layer was applied only a day later, and the third a few hours after the second.

5. After the layers have completely dried, I tried to attach the magnets that were at hand. Hold on. Magic! :)

Please note that the edges of the board are not painted over with soil. I just already knew that there would be a frame, so I was sorry to spend magnetic soil on these unused sections in the future. I got it with great difficulty, because at first I searched it all over the Internet, then it turned out that it was not available anywhere, in the end I ordered the last two banks and how many more they got to me by mail. In general, I was shaking over this magnetic soil =))) Because I could try to save)
After coating, the surface was very rough, the soil was applied with some kind of small crumbs, I really wanted to sand the board at least lightly, but I imagined how much soil would fall off, and that the magnetic properties were weakened, so I preferred not to touch anything. After all, it is also worth considering that under the paint layers these properties will also weaken.

6. Well, here we got to the paint) Unfortunately, I didn’t have any photographs of how I painted, although this is surprising, because I remember exactly what I was shooting. I will show only the result after this stage. My child and I immediately began to test, without waiting for attachment of other articulations)))

Tikkuril paint is easy to apply. I only had one layer for a dense even coating. Her smell is specific, but not to say that it is sharp, and it disappears very quickly. It looks like shoe polish)) It dries within a couple of hours, but I left it for a day, afraid to try it right away =) But the next day after painting, we painted and washed it with chalk, and everything was fine,)
As a result, I spent only 1/3 of a liter can. Already figured out where else to use it) But you can just save it over time, if the board loses its “salable” appearance, just cover it with a new layer, and it sparkles again like a new one,)

7. The next step, I sawed the framework of the required size. Two pieces of 1.2 m and two of 0.8 m. Using a special nozzle, I sawed diagonal corners. White paint covered these slats. She painted the same paint and railing. Tikkurila Pesto 10 dries for almost two days and at the same time smells sharply. The child had to sleep in another room. But it is ideally suited for both wood and metal, it does not need to be varnished afterwards and you can safely wash it, that's why I chose it.

8. I screwed the railing with a screwdriver to the board below, measuring its location with a laser level. She planned to stick the frames on the glue, but only after the board hangs on the wall. I wanted to cover the holes from the drill with frames.

9. So, we got to the stage of attaching the board to the wall. I thought a lot about how it would be better to hang it. And the loops had thoughts and glue, but in the end it was decided that we would drill two holes at the top and bottom of the board. As much in the wall, we hammer the dowels there and screw the board onto the screws. Why below too. Because if the board is fixed only from above, then when drawing on it, it sways noticeably and jumps. If it is also fixed from below, it is very tight against the wall and there are no movements.

10. I completed the fastening phase with frames, which I glued along the edges of the board to liquid nails. That's how they look close. Do you say that a hole is drilled under this frame? All holes are hidden) Self-tapping screws, by the way, are selected not with a round, but with a flat head, because the frame can easily fit snugly against the board.

11. She hung pockets and containers on the railing. I put in them all the magnets and crayons that we have.

Focus on magnets with animals from Eric Karl’s books. If you look closely, then above you can see wooden magnets of various geometric shapes, and even letters and numbers that we inherited from my sister) We also have gypsum magnets, which we make using molds, and then decorate, there also a great flight for imagination, because there are sea animals and vegetables / fruits and fairy tale characters. In general, there are a lot of variations for games.

12. Here, for example, literally I find composed an educational game. Mishutka learned to draw waves and imitated the sea on a board.

When I saw this, I simply asked to find it among all the magnets of those animals that swim in the sea. The child was not mistaken even once; the octopus and the goldfish selected by him had not yet entered the frame. And I told him to take a polar bear, because he also swims in the sea and catches a fish. This is how the child develops, just learning everything new in the game.

Well, in the end, to complete this post, I post the view of the finished result from the side. The photo is not staged, sorry, but only such a frame was found where the entire board is visible) The child writes the letter A =))

I will make a reservation that I do not teach him letters. I believe that at this age this is not necessary. But he played the ABCs on the phone a couple of times and here is the result. Well, again, knowledge in the game is not forbidden,)

An unexpectedly simple and elegant solution for the storage and convenient use of cosmetics. Often in the house you can find old trays that are not used, because they have long gone out of fashion.

I have such a completely gestural sign in front of the stove. I put ashes and ash from the stove into it. But you can hang it on the wall and use it to hold magnets of various useful things. Including cosmetics. If for some political reasons you don’t like the Zhesotov painting, you can drape the pallet with any fabric as the author of the project did. Thus, inscribing colors in almost any interior.

Not everyone has the opportunity to visit salons like this spalotus.me, but there is always the opportunity to make personal care more convenient for your girlfriend.

Further from the author of the project in machine translation.
I don’t have many cosmetics, but enough of them to spoil my dressing table after a crazy morning getting ready for work. I use to throw my powders, blushes, shadows, etc. back into the caddies on my table after I use them, but more often than not, it was difficult to put them back in so I leave them (as you can see on the picture). It will really annoy my husband.

I took some inspiration from IKEA magnetic spice containers that you might have seen before, and decided to use the idea of sticking elements on a vertical surface and apply it to my cosmetics and empty wall. I hope you enjoy my creation.

Step 1: step one - choose the look of the board

First, I bought 2 small metal stainless steel pans from the local housing and communal services workshop. I chose the squares that will fit into the space, I mean. They cost me $ 2.50 AUD for each.

For linen sheathing, I selected some kitchy Chinese fabrics left over from previous projects. I cut the panels so that they were larger than the pots themselves, knowing that I needed to stretch the edges on the back of the pan.

I made sure that the fabric was beautiful and neat, ironing fabrics.

Step 2: second step - securing the fabric

The next step was to attach the fabric to the metal of the pan. My husband knowingly told me that PVA does not stick fabric on metal, so I need to find another glue. When I searched the Internet, she suggested epoxy adhesives like Araldit, but it's going to be hell to spread out evenly. A spray adhesive was also mentioned, but we didn’t have a house, so I decided to give double-sided tape in our house to go. I made a patten net in my pan so that there were many points of contact between the pan and the fabric. I also made sure that I put the tape carefully on the wheels. The tape was surprisingly strong, and I would again use the same method to attach fabric to metal. However, if you know that your magnetic board may come into contact with a liquid or get dirty easily, you may need to research another method.

After filling the pallet, as shown in the photo, I laid it on top of the fabric and worked from the center of the pan, slowly pushing the fabric onto the tape in the outward order.

Step 3: step three - finish the magnetic board

After the canvas was glued beautifully to the front, I used duct tape to stretch and fix the edges around the back of the tray.

I used some 3M double-sided wall command stripes on the handle of the pot against the wall. I let these pans remain on the wall without makeup for several hours to let the strips settle (as suggested by the manufacturer).

Step 4. Step Four - Fixing magnets for cosmetics

I bought some cheap magnets from the back store. These costs $ 1 AUD for 8. I used a screwdriver to pry magnets off my cheap plastic cases. The beauty of these magnets was that they were inserted into plastic sleeves with double-sided foam tape. This meant that once they had a squat, I was just stuck on magnets using their existing tape on the back of my cosmetic cases. For small cosmetics, I just used one magnet, for larger ones, I used two. Another idea I had for magnets is the use of gasket magnets, which can be bought per meter. This can give you a flat finish on the back of your cosmetics, as they are thinner than the ones I used. However, they might not be as strong as.

(When gluing magnets to cosmetic cases, do not stick them on the color name of this particular product. Otherwise, you may not know the name of your favorite shade when you want to redeem).

Step 5: finished project

And now the finished product!

I am quite pleased with the result, as it saves a large dressing space and adds a little flair to this corner of the room.

If you did something similar in your room, relying on this
